Be Thou My Vision (Gillingham)

Gillingham has been called one of the most prolific and widely performed composers of our time. Based on a reverent hymn, this expressive piece carries an eternal message of faith and hope. The composer adds moments of drama via wind and brass lines that "break through like dazzling sunlight through the clouds." In addition to his post as professor of music composition and theory at Central Michigan University, Gillingham is an accomplished performer on keyboard and euphonium. Many of his works for winds are considered standards in the repertoire. --James Huff 04:51, November 22, 2009 (UTC) (from the program notes of The Claremont Winds, submitted with permission)
