The first of "three postcards" in this work is a musical vision of New York City's skyline, with its looming buildings and concrete canyons. From there, the melody takes us to an urban jazz scene at a typical NYC night club. The conclusion is a rowdy taxi ride through the heavy traffic of the busy city, ending with a return of the skyline motif. Sheldon has taught instrumental music in Florida and Illinois schools, has served on the faculty at Florida State University, and is currently concert band editor for the Alfred Publishing Company.
