The inspiration for this fanfare was the ubiquitous element nitrogen, which composer Ticheli called "life-giving, energizing, healing, cleansing, explosive." He composed this work in 2006 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Northshore (IL) Concert Band. Trumpet calls and a busy chattering in the woodwinds create a bright, festive mood, building to a thunderous conclusion. Ticheli, currently professor of composition at the USC Thornton School of Music, is a fast-rising star in American orchestral and concert band composition. --James Huff 06:39, 13 May 2008 (UTC) (from the program notes of The Claremont Winds, submitted with permission)
